Regional General Adjuster (RGA)

The Regional General Adjuster (RGA) course is a 40-hour advanced training course designed for experienced insurance adjusters seeking to expand their expertise in multi-jurisdictional claims handling, regional policy interpretation, and complex loss evaluations. This course delves into the intricacies of regional insurance practices, focusing on policy variations, jurisdictional case law, negotiation strategies, and specialized estimating techniques tailored to different geographic areas. Participants will develop a deep understanding of regional claims management and gain the necessary skills to handle high-value, catastrophe, and multi-party claims effectively.

The curriculum is structured into six key chapters, covering advanced policy interpretation, jurisdictional legal precedents, regional estimating techniques, and compliance with state-specific regulations. Participants will explore real-world case studies, legal analyses, and hands-on claim evaluation exercises to sharpen their analytical and decision-making skills. The course emphasizes the importance of adapting claim handling strategies to meet diverse regional requirements, including local regulatory considerations, economic factors, and emerging insurance trends. Additionally, the program covers negotiation techniques for regional disputes, litigation risk management, and specialized adjusting practices in catastrophe response and business interruption claims.

To qualify for enrollment, participants must have a minimum of six years of adjusting experience, a valid license in good standing (where applicable), and a history of handling at least 300 insurance claims across three or more U.S. states or territories. Additionally, students must successfully complete the National Insurance Institute’s Ethics for Insurance Professionals course. Upon passing the final 50-question examination with a score of 80% or higher, participants will earn the Regional General Adjuster (RGA) designation, signifying their proficiency in regional claims management and high-level adjusting techniques​.
